Kharma Bums - Documentary World Premiere - San Diego (2nd Showing)
Kharma Bums is a feature length travel adventure documentary shot in Feb 2013. It follows a 130 mile stand up paddle board journey, beginning at the Kumbh Mela, the largest gathering of humans ever recorded. The Kumbh Mela is the holiest Hindu pilgrimage, and happens once every 12 years. This Mela attracted around 100,000,000 devotes, who over the course of the festival, all bathed in the Ganges river for spiritual purification. The documentary follows 4 friends, as they discover the beauty, chaos, and wonders of this massive festival, while at the same time, figuring out the logistics of continuing their journey via paddle board on this sacred yet polluted river. It then follows the week long, downriver adventure to the most sacred city in India, Varanasi. Follow the Kharma Bums on their quest to discover purity amongst pollution. (69 min)
