Forgotten Chicago Irving/Independence Park/Villa Walking Tour
Join Forgotten Chicago as we tour the Northwest Side neighborhoods of Irving Park, Independence Park, and the Villa. This walking tour will follow the ethnic and development patterns of the city as it grew towards the northwest. Early farmhouses, commercial districts and more will be examined along the way. The fascinating architecture of the Villa District will be covered in depth, as well as the effect that the construction of the Kennedy Expressway had on this community. From overlooked funeral home architecture to little-known ethnic landmarks, this tour will explore many overlooked nooks and crannies of this fascinating area of the city.
