The PGK Dance Project will premiere "And then, one day...",
a mysterious, physically demanding work for all the
company females by Boroka Nagy (Irvine), Kevin Jenkins, (San
Francisco) has created a stunning contemporary ballet duet performed by PGK Dancers Jennifer Puls and John Paul Lawson, Andrew Pearson, (Los Angeles) premieres a stylized, "groovy" work for the group, Blythe Barton's (Director Blythe Barton Dance, San Diego) "Cinema of a Certain Tension" returns after its premiere at our sold-out 3 day March event, "San Diego Dances at Bread & Salt".

Artistic Director, Peter G. Kalivas presents premieres and audience favorites of his own. "Don't Touch" is a funny, yet clever look at temptation through a solo dance/theater work for PGK Dancer Alyssa Junious. "Stay with Me" premiers with live vocals by Kalivas, and is a duet featuring new PGK Dancers Jenny Henkel and Ron Davis, as well as "Ode", a solo for new PGK Dancer Natalia Hill.

Mr. Kalivas's group work "There & Back" (2009) returns and is directly inspired by his company's first trip to Kazakhstan, Central Asia while getting caught in a sand storm. The sudden "there-ness" and quick departure of the storm inspired this flighty, fleeting work.

"Listen to Me", a stunning duet premieres and is created and
performed by new company member James LeMaster and apprentice
Nicole Lee with Peter G. Kalivas.

Dance Community Collaborations
"The Sound of Dance", conceived and directed by Peter G. Kalivas, created in collaboration with Kristina Cobarrubia (Flamenco), Divya Devaguptapu (Classical Indian) and John Paul Lawson (Tap) puts together forms that rely on sound production for their expression returns following its premiere at "Bread & Salt". "Beginning to End" (2011), reveals 2 gay couples (male & female), one at the beginning and the other at the end of their relationships simultaneously exposes the universal, human conditions of love found and lost. This work was originally commissioned for "Dance/Theatre" at The Diversionary Theater and inspired by a scene from the operetta "Sextet" by Nicolas Reveles (San Diego Opera).

FINALE
Sean Curran's (1997) 18 minute tour du force "Folk Dance for the
Future" closes out the show. Described by the New York and LA
Times as "witty,... laugh out loud funny and poignant." The company dons Scottish kilts and let's Irish Folk and Modern Dance collide as it will into the future. In this folk dance gay and ethnically mixed straight couples along with toys r us babies represent the "new normal" in exuberant leaps and the skilled dancing "PGK Dance" is known for.

SPECIAL NOTE
PGK Dance Director, Peter G. Kalivas was an original member of Sean Curran Company/NYC (1997 - 2002) and performed "Folk Dance for the Future" at The Joyce Theater New York, The Jacob's Pillow  over 35 tours across the US and Abroad.
