REBATEnsemble Presents - Rashomon: Reloaded
REBATEnsemble presents an original theatre adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's legendary film, Rashomon. Inspired by the Broadway production of the same name by Fay and Michael Kanin, REBATEnsemble re-imagines Kurosawa's classic in the Kabuki style and sets it in the present day. The show is site specific and is catered to the beautiful, natural landscape of South Lake Union Park, furthering our mission of activating theatricality in unconventional spaces and bringing our shows to audiences. Audiences will be thrown into the action, literally being inches away from the actors as they perform, dance, and set the air on fire.

The Story:
A husband and his wife encounter a bandit in the forest. The bandit rapes the wife, then kills the husband; those are the facts.
What isn't clear are the multiple takes on the event given to the jury by the Bandit, the wife, and the spirit of the husband when he possesses someone on stage. The Priest and the Woodcutter saw these three last and it was they who witnessed the court hearing. The Priest is unable to decipher the truth, but all is revealed when they stumble upon a corpse collector under an abandoned gate known as RASHOMON.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
For audience safety reasons, max seating capacity per show is 20 seats. Although you may pay-what-you-can at the door, to guarantee a seat we recommend that you purchase a ticket via Brown Paper Tickets to reserve a spot. We will have to turn away audience members when we exceed the limit as there is no standing rooms available at this time.
