Brooklyn, NY (June 29, 2015) - The string sensations Jeremy Kittel Band bring their bluegrass-Celtic-gypsy-jazz to Northeast festivals and venues this July. The trio comes in to Brattleboro on Friday, July 10, 7:30 PM at the Hooker Dunham Theater.  hookerdunham.org

Grammy-nominated fiddler Jeremy Kittel was a five-year member of the Turtle Island String Quartet, and worked with artists from My Morning Jacket to Aoife O'Donovan. His latest CD Chasing Sparks (Compass) features Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer. This year, Jeremy has teamed up with Florida mandolin prodigy Josh Pinkham and Vancouver guitar whiz Quinn Bachand (Ashley MacIsaac) for a couple of sizzling spontaneous tours. All three artists are up-and-coming acoustic stars; together, they blaze with musicality, chops, and a "sheer about-to-burst enthusiasm" (Strings).

The trio's joy in playing is palpable: Watch Jeremy and Josh's swinging duet on Chick Corea's "Spain," or hear Quinn dazzle on gypsy-jazz guitar or a crackling Irish jig. Spiritual sons of Sam Bush and David Grisman, Django Reinhardt and Irish fiddler Martin Hayes, these three are as comfortable at Bonnaroo as at a jazz club, a Celtic fest or bluegrass jam. Their July tour of the Northeast takes them to the New Bedford Folk Festival and venues in Albany, Portland, and Boston.

"There's so much exciting energy here," says Kittel, who is involved in projects from solo to full orchestras.  "A trio can be just as powerfuland sometimes even more powerfulthan large-scale music. I have so much fun with these guys!"

More about:
Jeremy Kittel has earned a reputation as one of the most exceptional violinists and fiddlers of his generation. His tremendous musicality, rare mastery of styles (jazz, Celtic, bluegrass, classical), and "exhilarating stage presence" (Strings Magazine), create dynamic exuberant performances. Following five years in the Grammy-winning Turtle Island String Quartet, the Michigan native/Brooklyn resident has worked with artists across genres including My Morning Jacket, Jars of Clay, Mark O'Connor, David Grisman, Abigail Washburn, Bela Fleck, Aoife O'Donovan, the Duhks, Camera Obscura, Laura Veirs, and Paquito D'Rivera. His solo recording, Chasing Sparks (Compass), features Chris Thile, Edgar Meyer, and Mike Marshall, and has garnered rave reviews among acoustic music circles worldwide.

Josh Pinkham took to the mandolin at age twelve and in a very short time has made a true mark for himself as a player, composer, recording artist and concert performer; by the time Josh was just 14 he had played on stage with nearly all of his mandolin heroes.  The Florida native continues to push his mandolin into new and old territory, excelling in bluegrass, newgrass, jazz and classical music, Joshua was named "the future of the mandolin" by Mandolin Magazine in their review of his CD, "Solo Mandolin Duets."  Scott Tichenor of Mandolin Cafe described Josh's solos on the Youtube videos with Frank Vignola and Jascho Stefan as "Jaw Dropping". And mandolin forefather David Grisman, with whom Joshua has just completed a recording, named him "as certainly one of the most important young improvisers on the acoustic scene today."

Quinn Bachand is recognized as the "Young Lion" of the Celtic guitar (Daniel Lapp) and "Canada's top Celtic guitarist" (Ashley MacIsaac). Quinn is also the frontman of gypsy jazz band Brishen, where he plays dazzling Django-style lead guitar, violin and tenor banjo. With Asturian and Breton roots, the Vancouver native has a rapidly-rising Celtic duo with his sister Qristina, winning 2010 Top Traditional Group and 2011 Top Duo at the Irish Music Awards. An in-demand sideman, Quinn has toured nationally and internationally with well-known musicians including Canadian fiddling icons Ashley MacIsaac and Natalie MacMaster. As a proficient multi-instrumentalist, he is equally at ease playing Irish tenor banjo, claw hammer banjo, bouzouki, bodhran and fiddle, not to mention being a classically trained Royal Conservatory violinist.
