Deconstructed is an evening performance that takes a look at the process of choreography from the inside out. Artistic Director, Jennifer Backhaus, along with company dancers decode the methods they used to create one of Backhausdance's critically-acclaimed works. The work is teased apart, live, onstage, into its most essential elements and then re-formed, allowing the audience a deeper look into the structure and intention of the dance.
This year, Backhausdance will deconstruct the award-winning trio, eXit. Performed to a live percussion score by musician, Erik Leckrone, the aggressive, relentless trio will be used as a medium to contemplate gender roles in contemporary dance.
Deconstructed is presented as part of the culmination of the annual Backhausdance Adv/Pro Summer Intensive and the two and three-week students are invited to perform repertory works they have workshopped over the course of the intensive.
Box office opens at 6:30pm.
