Joseph Akins Piano Concert
Composer-Professor Joseph Akins will be playing a late afternoon solo concert at PianoWorks in Duluth GA (near Atlanta) on June 13th at 3:00.

Joseph will be playing selections from his most recent album "A Southern Sun", which has been nominated for two awards over the last year and has received considerable airplay charting for six months. He will also be giving a sneek preview of some new music that will be appearing on his new upcoming album.

Relax and enjoy an hour of piano music from Joseph Akins. There will be giveaways and merchandise to purchase.

About:
Joseph Akins blends a variety of musical styles to create a sound that is recognizable and noted in today's contemporary piano genre. To date, he has released five solo albums. His most recent, A Southern Sun, was nominated for "Best Piano Album" at Zone Music Reporter, chosen as a "Top 30 Favorites of 2013" at MainlyPiano.com and nominated for "Album of the Year" at Enlightened Piano Radio. His holiday album, A Piano Christmas, was nominated for "Best Holiday Album of Year 2011" at SoloPiano.com, and Spirit Touch was included in the "Top 40 Albums of the Decade 2000-2009" at MainlyPiano.com. In 2014, "Masterpeace" (the title track from the 2007 album Masterpeace) was selected for one of the "50 Best Piano Songs of All Time" at Reviews New Age. Many songs from these albums can be heard on radio stations such as Pandora and Whisperings Solo Piano Radio.

As a youth, Joseph's music career began being a keyboard and saxophone player for country, pop and jazz bands. In recent years he has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and for the Annual All-Star Whisperings Award Concert. He has shared the stage with well-known pianists such as David Lanz and Liz Story. In addition to being an active performer and songwriter of instrumental music, he is an award-winning professor of recording industry at Middle Tennessee State University where he teaches courses in music production. He holds bachelor and master degrees in music and a doctorate in education, from the University of Tennessee, Radford University, and Tennessee State University in Nashville.
