32nd Tribute to Black Men Gala
MONARCH AWARDS GALA 2015 featuring THE 32nd TRIBUTE to BLACK MEN
A semi-formal affair ...

Reception - 7 pm:  The evening starts with a reception in Columbus Hall outside the Grand Ballroom.   It is the place to be see and be seen.  Meet and greet, bid on silent auction items, enjoy libations, purchase raffle tickets and people watch to your heart's content.  

The Gala - 8 pm:  Moving into the Grand Ballroom, the Gala commences with a 3-course "taste of soul" that is thoughtfully sourced and carefully served.  Hosted by the effervescent Val Warner of Windy City Live, the Gala program highlights the foundation's accomplishments, features a spectacular performance by The Chicago Contemporary Dance Theatre and honors six of Chicago's most outstanding African-American men.  This year's honorees are:

After Party - 9 pm:  Dance the night away at the Gala After Party with the city's best known party band, The Chicago Catz.

For more than 26 years, the Catz have performed at some of the most prestigious private parties and events in Chicago.  You're thinking, high society, hors d'oeuvre music ... to the contrary, The Chicago Catz serve up and dish out the hottest get out of your seat and dance music in town!

ABOUT THE MONARCH AWARDS FOUNDATION

The more than 250 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's Xi Nu Omega Chapter, chartered in 1982, are simultaneously members of the Monarch Awards Foundation, Inc. which was organized as a vehicle for the chapter's fundraising, program implementation, scholarship awards and charitable donations.  Some of the Foundation's signature initiatives are the Teen Esteem Program, the annual Thanksgiving Community Feeding, ASCEND -- a teen leadership development project, MLK Day of Service, and an annual Community Expo featuring the Music & Arts Explosion.   Since its inception in 1988, the Foundation has awarded more than $675,000.00 in scholarships and non-profit assistance.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, is an international service organization founded in 1908 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. It is the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by African-American college-educated women.  Its membership of 260,000 is comprised of distinguished women who dedicate themselves to promoting peace and improving the quality of life for citizens worldwide.

The Gala is the Foundation's major fundraiser and 100% of the proceeds is used for scholarships, community programs and nonprofit grants.  We contribute resources to help improve social and economic conditions through service initiatives and progressive educational enrichment, health promotion, family strengthening, environmental ownership and global impact programming.
