Telekinetic Walrus
Telekinetic Walrus presents listeners with a world of Funky, Psychedelic, Hip Hop infused Bass Music. Formed in Miami in 2009, the group quickly developed a strong following with their unique, widely appealing sound, conscious lyrics, and high-energy live performances. Telekinetic Walrus is comprised of: Y Diz a producer, instrumentalist, and Ableton Live Certified Trainer specializes in Moog synthesizers and other live instrumentation; The Time-Zoo Keeper a vocalist and lyricist, generates a captivating stage presence with his charismatic energy, soulful verses, and operatic techniques; Corinne Stevie an intergalactic MC and lyricist, plants seeds of positivity into the minds of listeners; Komakozie an astounding vocal percussionist, MC, and lyricist, flows flawlessly in the moment with matter bending mantras; Faun 5000 a saxophone / flute specialist and King of the planet Faunzellia, soothes the soul with sensual vibrations. Buffalo a veteran guitar magician, uses his strings to serenade with enduring beauty and soul. And Parker a live visual artist and 3D projection mapping engineer, translates audio into mesmerizing optical experiences which are interwoven with the music.
Telekinetic Walrus recently returned from The Believers of The Flying Squirrel Tour, which journeyed up the East Coast this Summer to The Grassroots Music Festival in Ithaca, New York. Having put out three EPs and a single in the past year, the band is gearing up for an October run to support their upcoming EP release, Tic Toc. Bolstered by The Telekinetic Family, the band's skilled support squad, Telekinetic Walrus expands their performances into highly engaging multimedia experiences, which include many different forms of atmosphere enhancing props, costumes, and theatrics. Telekinetic Walrus has shared bills with a diverse range of international acts, such as The Chemical Brothers, Flying Lotus, Del The Funky Homosapien (of Gorillaz fame), Four Tet, RJD2, Matisyahu, Dub FX, Easy Star All Stars, Prefuse 73, Afrobeta, and visionary artist, Alex Grey. In addition to playing at all three GrassRoots Festivals in Miami, New York, and North Carolina, the band has also played at Ultra Music Festival, III Points Music Festival, and MoonFest to name a few. Telekinetic Walrus focuses daily on spreading their music and positive vibes to a worldwide audience, while continuing to produce live performances and events, that unify people through community-building collaborations and active peace.

Trumpet/keyboard player, synthesist, and sonic scientist Ben Hovey blends his artistry as an accomplished traditional musician with a deep knowledge of music technology, into a truly rare talent. Fusing electronica with soul, dub, jazz, hip-hop, and world music has taken him from Ultra Music Festival in Miami, to Earthdance in San Francisco, to Burning Man and beyond. Living in Asheville, NC has greatly nurtured his musical opportunities with its vibrant music scene and support of his original fusion. Ben is reinventing what is possible in live performance by synergizing the musician and DJ archetypes. As he plays trumpet with his right hand, he harmonizes on keys with his left, makes live loops with his feet, while seamlessly remixing and manipulating samples with these live performances. This adventurous approach to improvisation leads to an unmatched ever-changing organic electronic soundscape. Whether he is performing under his own moniker as a soothing backdrop for an art gallery or elegant dining experience, or rocking a dance floor as HoveyKraft, you can be sure Ben will be pushing past the boundaries of genre into infinite possibility. His intense passion for life and his craft is evident in his original performances and other diverse musical projects. Currently, these include the premier special event 6 piece Motown/classic soul band, The Business, an 11-piece avant-garde big band, Rational discourse, led by Steve Alford, and a highly sought after 6 piece swing dance band, Michael Gamble's Rhythm Serenaders.
