Pathways to Peace: Seeking Wholeness Through Song-TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR!
-TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR! Talya and Julia are excited to perform a concert of Israeli music from its birth in 1948 to current day. The concert will be a collection of Israeli music through the years as well as some special original highlighted compositions.
Talya Smilowitz (singer) and Natalie Tenenbaum (pianist) both studied at the Juilliard School where they became close friends and musical collaborators. For over the past 10 years, they have been performing concerts together as a singer-piano duo. They perform repertoire spanning over many genres of music: opera, Broadway, jazz, folk, pop, rock and Israeli art songs and cantorial music. They have performed together in many ensembles and have written original compositions for both the secular and Israeli/ Jewish world. Natalie is the accompanist at the Jewish Congregation of Brookville/Oyster Bay Jewish Center on Long Island's North Shore, where Talya holds the position of Cantorial Soloist. Talya has now been there for almost six years, leading her congregation in song.
Julia Cadrain and Talya met as teenagers in West Hartford, CT, and connected over their shared love of singing. Cantor Cadrain received her Bachelors of Music from New England Conservatory and her cantorial ordination from Hebrew Union College. She has been delighted and honored to serve as a member of the clergy team at Central Synagogue in Manhattan since 2012.
This event is sponsored by Carol and Bob Deutsch in memory of Helen Hillman Cohen z''l, in conjunction with the Brooklyn Heights Synagogue and the America-Israel Cultural Foundation.
