The Skin of Our Teeth
Silverthorne kicks off its season with a free-wheeling production of Thornton Wilder's classic (and still relevant) comedy, The Skin of Our Teeth. A not-so-average New Jersey family survives humanity's greatest disasters "by the skin of their teeth!" Opening night is June 25; the show runs two weeks, ending July 5; Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm.
JOIN US FOR OUR SEASON OPENING PARTY AFTER THE JUNE 25 PERFORMANCE AT KOBE RESTAURANT, 254 MOHAWK TRAIL, GREENFIELD. CASH BAR, HIBACHI AND SNACKS TO CELEBRATE OUR SECOND YEAR!
Toby Vera Bercovici gives a Brechtian spin to this 1943 Pulitzer Prize winner that features Mr. and Mrs. Antrobus (played by Michael Bird and Susanna Apgar) dealing with everything from dinosaurs and creeping glaciers to earth-engulfing floods and world war. Linda Tardif's Sabina, the family's wisecracking maid and Audrey Jacinthe Connor*'s Cassandra-like Fortune Teller provide counterpoint to the Antrobus's enduring optimism a spark of hope in our dark days of climate change and ongoing humanitarian tragedies.
The Sloan Theater at Greenfield Community College provides an intimate performance space and is easily handicapped accessible. Located at One College Drive in Greenfield MA, the College is right off the Mohawk Trail (Route 2 west), Exit 26 on Interstate 91. The air-conditioned theater is on the ground level with plenty of free parking immediately adjacent.
