A Tribute to Joni Mitchell :: Issa Forrest & Sweet Bird, featuring Ron Miles
Please join Issa Forrest & Sweet Bird, with special guest Ron Miles, for an intimate concert and live recording session at Mighty Fine Productions. Sweet Bird's musicians are Lia Davis, Eric Moon, Alan Wartes, Marc Dalio, Gonzalo Teppa, Monika Vischer, Charlotte Braud-Kern, & Jackie Farrell.
Few artists can rightly be called "icons" of their time and genre. Joni Mitchell is undoubtedly one of them. Her innovative and original music is woven into the very fabric of 20th century American culture. Much more than an entertainer, Mitchell became a treasured voice for millions of fans around the world.
Issa Forrest and Sweet Bird capture the magic and unique sound that so many have come to love through the decades. The band faithfully renders many of Joni's songs, while lovingly reimagining others. This gifted group of musicians truly lives up to the challenge implied in the phrase, "tribute band." Not content to simply "cover" Mitchell's life work, the group delivers the essence of the music and delights audiences with cherished memories.
This show amounts to an evening of time travel through Mitchell's own musical journey from the light and frolicking "Chelsea Morning" to the grounded and contemplative sound of "Sweet Bird."
LOCATION INFORMATION: Mighty Fine Productions (MFP) is at 5225 E. 38th Avenue in Denver. It's in a warehouse district north of the Park Hill neighborhood, on the north side of 38th avenue. The building itself has no signs, just a large street address (5225) on the front of the red brick building. There is a liquor store just west (left) of the building. The entrance to MFP is on the east side of the building, and there is no fully accessible entrance -- entry requires going up 6 stair steps (there is a sturdy hand railing).
There are some road closures near the venue, north of Park Hill Golf Course, due to light rail construction -- and Google doesn't seem to know about them. Avoid taking Albion to Smith Road (just east of Colorado). Best to get onto I-70 east and take the Dahlia exit, Dahlia south to Smith road, then Smith to Forest st. No known road closures when approaching the venue from the south or east.
