Wine in the Pines Festival
This year's Wine in the Pines Festival in Danville, Pennsylvania, will feature six area wineries, craft brewers, artists and crafters, and food vendors. Headlining the entertainment on our festival stage will be Woody Wolfe, aka Tie Dyed Dawg (www.tiedyeddawg.com) and The Blind Chitlin Kahunas (www.theblindchitlinkahunas.com).
For full details about our wineries and craft brewers, go to www.wineinthepinesfestival.com. As for our entertainment and other events that weekend:
In the mood for a little Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young or perhaps just a little Neil? How about Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Gram Parsons, The Band, The Beatles, Procol Harem, CCR, Gordon Lightfoot, Grateful Dead, James Taylor, Jethro Tull, Traffic, Eagles, Byrds, Lovin' Spoonful, Jimmy Buffet, Van Morrison, Blind Melon, Oasis or R.E.M.? Maybe something a little more current from Shawn Mullins, David Gray, Train, or the Fray? You'll be in the right place at Wine in the Pines! Using guitars, harmonicas, ukuleles, and cutting edge vocal processing and looping technology, along with state-of-the-art Bose sound, the Tie Dyed Dawg offers a variety of music that will have you singing along and feeling as if you are part of the band.
The Kahunas is, quite possibly, one of the most bad-ass live jam bands in the land - its music rooted in the blues and heavily influenced by soul, funk, R&B, jazz, folk, outlaw country, pop and classic rock, creating a wholly original vibe. Over the years either as individuals or together the Kahunas have played with a veritable "who's who" of well-known musical artists. From smoky, little pubs to concert stages, these four exceptionally talented musicians and long-time friends never fail to leave their audiences speechless and touched by something special. This is a band that lives for the groove that makes people move. This isn't just the blues - it's music for your soul...fortified, funkified and ferocious!
The festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2015, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at historic Hess Field in Danville. Advance tickets are $15 (group rate) and $18. Day of the event tickets (not available online) will be $20.
The Montour Area Recreation Commission will host the 'Montour 24 Endurance Run' on the same weekend at the same venue. That evening guest artist and singer/songwriter Dayna Kurtz will be in concert at the Danville Middle School, with proceeds benefiting the Danville Arts Council. Tickets for that concert are also available at www.brownpapertickets.com/events/1375837.
