Spirituals Project Weekend
Program on the history of spirituals by Dr. Arthur Jones, founder and Chair Emeritus of the Spirituals Project. Jones is a Clinical Professor of Culture and Psychology and Associate Dean at Colorado Women's College. Jones is a leading authority on spirituals and their impact on American society. The mission of the Spirituals Project is to preserve and revitalize the music and teachings of the sacred songs called "spirituals," created and first sung by enslaved Africans in America in the 18th and 19th centuries.

A concert will immediately follow featuring the reunion of the Melzarian Chorale, founded by Mary Walton-May,  pianist, composer and music professor at Marygrove College Institute of Music and Dance.
