Michael Alfera presents an evening of piano sonatas, beginning with works originally written for harpsichord by Domenico Scarlatti, and ending with recently composed works for solo piano.

This recital will be given in the sanctuary of the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles. First Congregational Church is located near downtown Los Angeles, at 540 South Commonwealth Avenue. Parking at the church is always free.

Seating in the 840-capacity Sanctuary is unassigned. Patrons with Preferred Admission tickets will sit in the Preferred Admission section, which consists of the several pews closest to the piano, at the front of the sanctuary. The General Admission section includes the middle and back seating sections of the Sanctuary.

Michael Alfera is a pianist, composer, and conductor based in Los Angeles. He studied piano performance at the University of Southern California, and music composition at Interlochen Arts Academy. In 2012, Michael performed a solo piano recital entitled "Intimations," on which he performed Scriabin's Sonata No. 5, as well as premiered his own compositions, "Toccata" and "Sonata No. 1".

Additionally, he is the founder and artistic director of the L.A. Choral Lab (www.lachorallab.org), a 24-member SATB chamber choir whose mission is to promote and support living composers and the works they write. He is also the Director of the Ebell Chorale, a Los Angeles women's chorus whose existence dates back to 1896.
