PHILIP ANDERSON and FRIENDS - Caritas Concert for Charity - Sacred Music in a Sacred Space
Philip Anderson and Friends
St. Ignatius Loyola parish cantor Philip Anderson will sing a variety of his favorite music with "a little help from his friends," both singers and instrumentalists including Artek. Music by Monteverdi, Dowland, Britten, Glass, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter.
6:30 PM - Refreshments 7:00 PM - Music begins 7:45 PM - intermission with refreshments 8:15 PM - Music continues
Held in Wallace Hall, Caritas Concerts have the appeal of the less formal salon concerts of the 19th century. The evenings begin and end with light refreshments and a chance to mingle with the performers, and intimate seating places the audience in close proximity to the music. As the name suggests, Caritas Concerts are benefits, with all proceeds directed toward charities that address social justice concerns.
100% of proceeds from this concert will go to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul's work in New York City, specifically the St. Lawrence O'Toole Chapter in residence at St. Ignatius since 1866. This international volunteer organization, organized locally into chapters, provides person-to-person services and support to those who are in need. Some of the activities of the St. Lawrence O'Toole chapter include the women's shelter hosted in Wallace Hall, blood drives, Christmas Angels (gift drive), food drives, Friends of the Poor walk, home visits, Ronald McDonald House dinners for children cancer patients, senior luncheons, summer camp, toy drives and turkey drives.
All tickets for Caritas Concerts: $50
