Lev Aronson Legacy Showcase - Third Annual Lev Aronson Legacy Festival
All concerts are at O'Donnell Hall on SMU Campus.
On the advice of his doctor, Chris Atkins will not be able to perform his recital on June 7 at 7 PM at SMU at the Meadows School of the Arts.
Instead, a showcase of the talent of the Lev Aronson Legacy cellists including Brian Thornton, Melissa Kraut, and participants of the festival. The first half will consist of Meditation of Thaïs by Massenet, The Hassidic Dance by Lev Aronson, and a presentation on the music of Lev Aronson by renowned musicologist Dr. Sonia Archer-Capuzzo.
The second half will consist of performances by the participants of the festival, ending with an arrangement of J.S. Bach's monumental Chaconne, from the Violin Partita no. 2, arranged for for cellos by the former principal cellist of the New York Philharmonic, Lazlo Varga.
