WORKSHOP: PUNCH UP YOUR PAIN with MARTHA CHAVES

This event is 60 minutes.
This workshop will cover set-up and punch line (the building blocks of stand-up); how to enhance the joke-writing creative process using precise writing exercises; how to make all that works AGAINST you to work FOR you; how to develop "comedy ears" in order to objectively critique and polish your jokes; "punching up" your difficulties. Do not miss!
Presented by MARTHA CHAVES award-winning, multilingual, international stand-up comedian and veteran of the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival with many repeat appearances. TV appearances include CBC, CTV, THE COMEDY NETWORK and CARACOL TV to mention a few. Her versatility has led to performances all over the world, entertaining a wide range of audiences including the UN Canadian Peace Keeping Troops in the Middle East and a delegation of women led by Nobel Peace Prize recipients in Mexico and Central America. Martha is a six-time nominee for a Canadian Comedy Award, in the category of Best Female Stand-up. She was the winner of The Great Canadian Laugh-off Comedy Competition, Ottawa Chapter 2010 and national runner-up.
Martha Chaves is a SOULO Theatre alumnus. In 2012 and 2013, she presented excerpts of her one-woman show STAYING ALIVE and performed the piece in its entirety as a featured SOULO STAR in the 2014 SOULO Theatre Festival, directed by Beatriz Pizano.

Advance: $15 + fees
At the door: $20, cash only

SOULO THEATRE FESTIVAL TICKET POLICIES:
+ All shows begin on time.
+ There are NO latecomers, NO refunds, NO exceptions, but we are happy to exchange your tickets to another event (pending availability) if you are late to your show! Please double check your event's start time/location and arrive early to avoid disappointment.
+ Walk-up tickets will go on sale ONE HOUR before the event, cash only.
+ If an event has sold out online, come on down to the theatre and see if we have any walk-up tickets available!
+ Advance ticket sales end at 12pm the day of the event. If online sales have ended, we strongly encourage you to visit the theatre in person!
