Heroism and Transcendence
The Eureka Orchestra presents: Heroism and Transcendence
Under the inspiring vision of the young Albanian conductor Kristo Kondakci. a unique program in collaboration with classical guitarist Robert Bekkers and the soprano Yelena Dudochkin. The program consists: of the Ouverture Egmond, by Beethoven, Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, and Mahler's fourth symphony in a special chamber orchestra arrangement by New-York based conductor Yoon Jae Lee.
This music focuses around life and loss, around heroism and transcendence: The Beethoven depicts the struggle between an individual and the collective, with the individual ultimately dying at the hands of the collective. The Rodrigo portrays through music, the history of spain, in its glory as well as in its tragedy; central to the piece is the Spanish Civil War. The Mahler 4th centralizes itself around tradition & innocence vs. the seductiveness of banality; this idea culminates in the last movement, where a soprano soloist, representing a child who has passed away due to starvation, describes what heaven looks like.
