Easy Herbs for Your Kitchen Garden!
Nothing is more wonderful than an herb garden full of aromas, colors, textures, and flavors. Just a couple pots of parsley, sage, rosemary, or thyme and you have the basics to add excitement to your garden and table.
Growing herbs isn't difficult, in fact some prefer those spots in our gardens few other plants enjoy. Armed with a bit of basic knowledge, you can grow a whole spice cabinet full of flavors that will have you forever shunning jars of herbs at the supermarket.
The Growing Groceries program is proud to present a lively evening, Wednesday, May 6, 2015 6:30-9:30 pm, with herb-grower extraordinaire EagleSong Evans Gardener as she introduces you to some of her favorite allies, The Kitchen Garden Herbs.
Mints and thymes, alliums and even roses have long historical use as adjuncts for improved nutrition, delicious food, and distinct culinary traditions. Like each person, each plant has a family, a history.
A wise woman herbalist and story catcher, EagleSong will keep you spellbound as she spins a yarns around the ordinary plants you'll want to have in your garden by the time class is over. Parsley will never be the same! You'll learn the practical side of growing herbs at home and each student will go home with an herb for their garden.
EagleSong Evans Gardener has a passion for understanding food, plants, and cultures through time. She brings over 40 years' experience in organic and sustainable practices to every garden she creates and tends. She was Director of Natural Beauty at Willows Lodge in Woodinville, WA for many years where she designed and implemented sustainable landscape management systems for the Lodge and the world-famous Herbfarm Restaurant.
Currently, she coordinates women's community herbal education and outreach and can often be found cooking up herbal mischief in the hedge at workshops, apprenticeships, and gatherings at her home place, RavenCroft Garden near Monroe, WA.
