How it all works!
A Month Of, is a 30 day celebration of storytelling based on a theme you chose!
And it culminates in every second Wed as an incredible and intimate open mic. One were friends and soon to be friends get together to swap stories in the most natural of ways. By just sitting around talking!
After the show you'll help us choose the next month's theme.
Then we set up a day to get together and create stories based on that theme.
Over the years we've burned things of sentimental value, lit cakes on fire, cut up business men's ties, paraded around festivals, found secret spots in the city, called strangers on the phone, and went on all sorts of magical adventures together.
*Notes on the Potluck* Everything but Alcohol is welcome! Other drinks encouraged, as well as utensils and paper plates.
We are always in need of main dishes, so if you're up for making an entrée, please do so.
That said, we aren't sticklers, and we aren't the potluck food police, if you bring a bag of skittles we will poor it into a cup so people can share and let you into the show for free.
Dips and chips are always a big hit and provided in plenty.
If you make a vegetarian or vegan dish, let us know so we can notify people!
*Notes on the open Mic* Intimate and unscripted, we get more stories in an hour than any other show in Chicago. If you have a story on your heart, if an idea pops into your head, let it out.
There is no pressure to tell a story, but it's rare that this style of open mic doesn't open people up.
If you've never told a story before, this is the show for you.
Our show is podcasted, and published with a creative commons non commercial license. That way you can download and swap these stories as much as you like.
If you are going to tell a story where names should be obfuscated, please do!
