Feast For Change: Exploring the World One Plate at a Time
Project Feast presents Feast For Change: Exploring the World One Plate at a Time. Held in the historic Pike Place Atrium, this pop-up dining event will immerse guests in an around the world culinary experience. You will enjoy traditional foods from Burma, Iraq, Thailand, Eritrea and beyond, while meeting the women behind these delicacies and learning their stories.
Project Feast is a non-profit social enterprise that realizes the potential of food to build community and transform lives. We teach refugee and immigrant cooks how to make their culinary skills marketable, while promoting cultural exchange through catering, community outreach and cooking classes.
The Feast for Change Tasting Menu:
Burmese Lephet Thoke - Fresh salad of fermented tea leaves blended with crunchy peanuts and cabbage
Miang Kham - Thai street food snack made from wild pepper leaves stuffed with your choice of shallots, limes, peanuts, roasted coconut, chilies, and ginger
Indian Papdi Chaat - Street food classic made from crunchy, savory wafers layered with potatoes, chickpeas, tomatoes, spicy mint chutney, sweet tamarind chutney, and topped with yogurt and "sev", small fried chickpea strands
Mexican Mole Verde - Traditional green mole served with chicken and red rice
Laham Ajeen - Savory Iraqi pastry filled with ground lamb and tomato sauce
Eritrean Injera Rolls - Spongy fermented flat bread, made from teff flour and filled with "Addis", a spicy lentil stew
Iraqi Znoud El-Sit - Sweet cream filled pastry, baked and garnished with pistachios
Tickets:
General Admission - $50: Includes the complete tasting experience + one beer/wine ticket
VIP Admission - $75: Includes the complete tasting experience + one beer/wine ticket + our 30 minute Essential Knife Skills class. The class will be hosted by Chef Buck in the Pike Place Atrium Kitchen. Participants will hone basic knife skills and practice the fundamental cuts for vegetables.
The tax deductible amount of each ticket is $30 for GA and $45 for VIP.
