First Annual Ecstatic Poetry and Dance Festival
THE FIRST ANNUAL ECSTATIC POETRY and DANCE FESTIVAL combines the glories and epiphanies of poetry with the energy and movements of dance.
Mix in refreshments and yummy food with the poetry, music, and dancing and you've got the perfect alchemy for community and love.
SUNDAY, APRIL 26, 3-8 pm (doors open at 3:30 pm)
- 3-4 pm - Photo Opportunities with Humpfree the Camel from Lyons Ranch in Glen Ellen, in front of the Veterans Building. - 4 pm - Rumi's Caravan - Soul-Opening Poetry and Live Music performed in the Ecstatic Tradition.
Rumi's Caravan poets bring to light the beauty and wisdom of mystic poetry, featuring Rumi, Hafiz, Mary Oliver, and more, with guest musicians Eliyahu Sills and Jason Ramjit Parmar. - 5:30 pm - Yummy Food and Refreshments
Chef Isa Jacoby will create a menu honoring Rumi and the ecstatic poets. She will gather ingredients from the vibrantly emerging Spring fields of Sonoma and prepare them with traditional Persian, Afghani, and Turkish flavors. Choose either a small Vegan Mezze (snack plate - $5) or a vegan/vegetarian Buffet Feast ($15).
**RSVP by buying tickets NO LATER THAN Thursday, 4/23 so Isa knows how many plates to prepare. Food tickets must be purchased in advance and will NOT be for sale at the event.
- 6:30 pm - Ecstatic Dance
DJ Deepflow will play a mix of sublime down-tempo to ecstatic up-tempo music to inspire your inner dancer.
COME TO BE DANCED and experience how minds, bodies, and spirits magically combine to create divine, soul-stirring community.
** LAVISH ATTIRE enthusiastically recommended. This is a benefit/fundraiser produced by the Bear Flag Social Club. Net proceeds benefit The Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy.
