Merchants of Groove... cd release party
15 years ago we recorded the cd "50 YEARS" with Smith Dobson on piano, Chris Cain-guitar, Stan Poplin-bass, Bob Blankenship-drums, Modesto Briseno-trumpet, and Mark Whitney saxophones/vocals . It was a private gift to celebrate the 50th anniversary of saxophonist Mark Whitney's parents. I have decided to release it being one of the last things Smith did, and the fact that it came out so lovely.
So the concert will be a tribute and celebration our friend and colleague... Smith Dobson. Smith's wife Gail Dobson and son Smith Dobson V will perform with the rhythm section and Smith will run a pro jam session after the sets especially for those who used to play with his Dad.
The band will feature Chris Cain-guitar/piano, Bob Blankenship-drums, Modesto Briseno-trumpet, Dan Robbins-bass, Keith Saunders- piano, Mark Whitney-saxes/flute/vocals. with special guests the Dobsons.
