Mushroom Foraging Workshop
Wanted: persons who are mad about morels, who swoon at the sight of chanterelles, and who would like to take the next step and learn to forage for their own fungi.
If this describes you, you are heartily invited to Slow Food TN Valley's mushroom foraging workshop on Sunday, April 26th, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Everything Mushrooms in South Knoxville.
Whitey Hitchcock, who has been studying and foraging for mushrooms in East Tennessee for 20 years, will educate participants on a dozen of our most common local mushrooms, including morels, chicken of the woods, chanterelles and hedgehogs (yes, that's a mushroom!). We'll learn where to find these fungi, when they're in season, what they look like, what similar-looking mushrooms to avoid, and more. For more information on Dr. Hitchcock, including the private guided foraging trips he leads, check out his blog, http://www.thefungiforager.com/
Light snacks (mushroom-themed, of course) will be provided by Holy Cow Catering. And a big thank you to Everything Mushrooms for kindly hosting this event.
Tickets are $20, and can be purchased at mushroomforagingsftv.brownpapertickets.com. Questions? Need more information? Feel free to contact us at info@slowfoodtnvalley.com.
