Kinbaku Fundamentals: The 3-Rope Gote Shibari
The 3-rope gote shibari/takatekote shibari is elaborate, beautiful, and versatile, and assists in more rigorous rope work, both on the ground & in the air.

In this three hour workshop, we'll be building on last month's class by adding a third rope to our gote shibari/ takatekote shibari. We'll be looking at several different variations of the tie, as well as focusing on precise rope positioning, tension, & several types of frictions. We'll examine anatomy & safety issues associated with this tie, and learn tips & tricks for tying fluidly & with connection.

Prerequisite: This course assumes familiarity with tying the two-rope gote shibari/takatekote shibariwhatever lineage or style you're used to. It is appropriate for all genders, sexual orientations, and body types.

To make sure we've got space to work in, and to ensure personal attention to each participant, class size will be limited to 14 people. Don't have a partner? We'll do our best to pair up solo students. Due to the small class size, early registration is recommended. To reserve a space in this course, please email me at jonathan@seattleshibari.com

Clothing & Equipment: Please bring 3-4 25'-30' pieces of bondage rope, preferably 5-6mm in diameter, and a blanket or yoga mat to sit & tie on. If you are tying a larger-bodied rope bottom, consider bringing 4-5 pieces 30' of rope. For everyone: got shorter, 5', 10', or 15' pieces of pieces of rope, too? Bring 'em--we'll talk about adaptation, decoration, and using up rope, too.
You should wear clothing comfortable to tie in.

About the Instructor:
Jonathan aka SeattleShibari is a Seattle-based rope artist who performs on-stage theatrical bondage acts, ties for photo shoots, and engages in shibari shenanigans with his partner O. Together, they run the website SeattleShibari.com, and are committed to bringing the joy, art, and intimacy of Japanese-style rope bondage to the community.
