2015 - Jr. Derby: GGJD READY TO ROLL Summer Camp, July 20-31
Do you have an active daughter, aged 8 to 17? Introduce her to the amazing sport of roller derby at the Gotham Girls Ready to Roll summer camp!
Hosted by Gotham Girls Junior Derby, our summer camp will run on weekdays from Monday July 20th through Friday July 31st. Classes on roller skating basics and introductory roller derby skills will be led by coaches from the Gotham Girls, five-time international women's roller derby champions. The program includes morning and afternoon skate sessions, lunch, and fun off-skates activities, including icebreakers, footage watching and movie screenings, derby rules sessions, and skate maintenance lessons with Five Stride Skate Shop.
Besides quad (four-wheeled) skates, protective gear is required: knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, helmet, and mouth guard. We recommend having your own, though some loaner gear *may* be available (subject to availability). No previous skating experience is necessary, except that skaters must be able to make it around the track without holding onto walls or people. The camp will be held at the Gotham Girls practice space in East Williamsburg, just a few blocks from the L train Montrose Avenue stop. (Exact address provided upon registration.)
Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 31, 2015 Weekdays, 10am to 4pm Cost: $400 for two weeks
**Event may be canceled and participants' money refunded if there is not enough interest in this session.**
