From Orchard to Bottle: A Saturday with Rhine Hall Distillery
In the heart of the Industrial District of Chicago, Charlie and Jenny Solberg, a father-daughter team, opened a handcrafted brandy distillery that embodies the Slow Food mission. Rhine Hall Distillery sources all of their produce locally from the Great Lakes Region, their waste is collected by the Chicago composting company, Resource Center, which employs thousands of jobs in Chicago and provides soil for the produce used in many restaurants around the city, and they contribute to and support the Alliance for the Great Lakes.

On 28 March, join Slow Food Chicago and Rhine Hall Distillery for a day of slow drinking at its finest.

Start the day with a community apple chopping - where production begins. Be a part of the process, but be prepared to work - this is manual labor**!

Food will be provided so when you need a break, and have a chance to learn the varieties of apples Rhine Hall uses, where they're sourced from, and get an insider's view into creating amazing brandies!

When we wrap up, you'll enjoy a distillery tour (we gotta bring it full circle!), learn the Rhine Hall story, ask your burning distillation and production questions, enjoy brandy and grappa samples as well as cocktail samples from HOLLOW LEG, and nosh on food throughout.

Come support an incredible local business and expand your palate!

*Chopping apples is fun but it is manual labor. You will be shoveling and picking up heavy tubs of apples. Wearing non-slip shoes and clothes you don't mind getting sticky are necessities.
