Beethoven Piano Sonata, no 28, op. 101
Rachmaninoff Cello Sonata, op 19

Artists:
Linda Chesis, flute
Nick Canellakis, cello
Roman Rabinovich, piano

Flutist LINDA CHESIS is founder and artistic director of the Cooperstown Summer Music Festival. She is a member of the flute faculty and chair of the Woodwind Department at the Manhattan School of Music. She has been hailed by critics on three continents as one of the most exciting and dynamic flutists of her generation. The top prize winner at the Paris and Barcelona International competitions, and at the National Flute Association Competition, Ms. Chesis has performed with orchestras and in solo recitals throughout the US, France, Great Britain, Germany, Japan and Korea. Her recordings can be heard on the EMI, Nonesuch and Music Masters labels.

NICHOLAS CANELLAKIS is one of the most innovative cellists of his generation, captivating audiences throughout the United States and abroad. The New York Times praised his playing as "impassioned" and "soulful," with "the audience seduced by Mr. Canellakis's rich, alluring tone." The week before this concert, he will make his Carnegie Hall concerto debut, performing Leon Kirchner's Music for Cello and Orchestra with the American Symphony Orchestra. He performs regularly with the Chamber Music Society in Alice Tully Hall and on tour, and as a member of the Canellakis-Brown Duo. Filmmaking is one of Mr. Canellakis's special interests. He has produced, directed, and starred in several short films and music videos, all of which can be found on his website.

The Israeli pianist ROMAN RABINOVICH, "whose mature, self-assured playing belies his chronological age" (San Francisco Classical Voice) won the top prize as well as four additional prizes at the 2008 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. Since his Israel Philharmonic debut under the baton of Zubin Mehta at age ten, Mr. Rabinovich has performed as a soloist with Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Buffalo Philharmonic, and many others. Also an avid chamber musician, Mr. Rabinovich has partnered with Daniel Hope, Ralph Kirshbaum and Miriam Fried.  He has recently recorded ballets by Ravel, Prokofiev and Stravinsky for the Orchid Classics label. Mr. Rabinovich also excels as a gifted artist. He often combines his concerts with exhibitions of his paintings. More information available on his website.

Tickets for the April 26 concert are $25 for adults, and $15 for students and are available for purchase online and by phone through Brown Paper Tickets, and at the door, as available.
