Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Award Honoring Lou Henson
Prairielands Council, Boy Scouts of America is pleased to present its first Distinguished Citizen Award to former Fighting Illini Head Basketball Coach and NCAA Basketball Hall of Fame honoree, Lou Henson. Lou Henson has an esteemed career that included giving young men the tools needed to live a successful and productive life. Like Scouting, Coach Henson has developed boys into young men of strong moral character; helped them to discover their full potential; and guided them to become good citizens as described in the Scout Oath to "help other people at all times". The Distinguished Citizen Event will be a celebration of Lou Henson's impact on the lives of young people as well as show case for Scouting. Join us for the evening to congratulate Coach Henson, celebrate with other members of the community and see Scouting in action. Reception with Cocktail Buffet begins at 6:00 pm; Award Presentation at 7:15 pm; social time from 8:00 to 9:00 pm. All proceeds go to provide and enhance the Scouting program to nearly 3,000 young people in Prairielands Council; serving nine counties in east central Illinois and western Indiana.
