Sailing bards - Come join us! As the season begins we will gather to share tales of our sailing experiences at an event hosted by the Constitution Yacht Club (CYC). Story presentation categories include topics of interest to skippers, crews, and sailing spouses alike, and will include:

Each story will be 5 minutes (rules follow down below) and we are hoping for a healthy turnout. So get those nautical jawbones into shape and sign up early to be among the 15 scheduled presenters (signing up to present is done as you order and proceed to checkout). Every presenter will get an official CYC token of appreciation and the winner of each category will receive their own special prize. Cash bar and a pasta buffet will be available. Hope to see you there!
This event is free for CYC members and $10 for non-members payable at the door. All are welcome! Spread the word!

What are the Rules?
5 Minutes! Each storyteller gets 5 minutes to tell a story. If the storyteller goes over, points will be deducted from the total score.
How should the presentation be? Your voice and body are instruments of your art. Use your voice, gestures and movements to the best of your ability to tell your story. A storyteller may not use props (including a written page), costumes, or musical instruments.
What kind of Story? This is a competition based on the art of storytelling on the set presentation categories. The audience and judges are expecting your own real life story. Each story must be of your own construction. Be clear about why the story is important to you and why you are telling it. Your story, not just the title or 'punch line', needs to connect in a meaningful way to the story presentation categories.
Retelling folktales, myths, fables, and literary works is not permitted. Poetry is not encouraged unless the poem is original, 5 minutes long, and tells a story.
What can the audience do? Listen, laugh, applaud, and cry. No interrupting and no heckling. How will it be judged and scored? Numerical scores (on a 1 to 10 scale) will be given, based on the storyteller's content and performance, by volunteer judges within the audience who love stories. Judges will evaluate how well each story is told, how well it is constructed, and how well the story explores, connects and/or reveals some truth about the presentation topic.
* How well story is told and constructed - worth a maximum of 5 points * How well story explores, connects and/or reveals some truth about the theme - worth a maximum of 3 points * Stayed within 5 minute time frame - worth a maximum of 2 points
