On Saturday, April 18 the Florentine Opera Studio Artists will present a concert of famous opera arias, songs from popular musical theatre, and unique cabaret songs at Unitarian Universalist Church West in Brookfield.
The Florentine Opera Studio provides season-long, comprehensive artist-in-residence employment for talented singers beginning their professional careers. From each September through May, the Florentine Opera Studio allows promising singers experience and training to facilitate their professional growth in the opera art form. Each season, four singers participate in this program. This season's singers include soprano Julie Tabash from St. Louis, mezzo-soprano Lindsay Metzger from Chicago, tenor Aaron Short from Kansas City, and baritone Pablo Siqueiros from San Diego. The Studio Artists will be accompanied on the piano by Ruben Piirainen, who is also the Director of Music at Unitarian Universalist Church West.
The concert begins at 7:30 with an admission of $15 to benefit Common Ground, a group of nonpartisan, proactive, everyday citizens in Southeastern Wisconsin, dedicated to identifying pressing social problems facing our community and bringing about creative solutions through the membership of more than forty congregations, neighborhood groups, nonprofits, schools, small businesses and unions.
