Water Wise Garden Tour
This tour is aimed at educating and inspiring our neighbors about water conservation. After several years of drought and our reservoirs at record lows, now is the time to rethink our relationship to water in Southern California. This tour will feature local homes that celebrate water conservation. There will be several examples of grey water systems recycling water from inside the home to be used out in the garden. There will also be examples of rainwater harvesting, native plants, drip irrigation and beautiful gardens that replaced thirsty lawns. There are many ideas to take away and do yourself for free or on a limited budget. Come out to meet some neighbors and get inspired about using water more wisely.
Details: This is a guided tour. We will start in Los Feliz and end in Echo Park/Silverlake area. You are responsible for getting to and from the various locations and we will allow for transportation time between sites. You may drive or bike. We figure including finding parking, bicycling will not take much more time than driving. Carpooling and bicycling are encouraged. There are 5 total sites.
We should finish by 1pm but how fast we move between sites depends on many variables.
Families are welcome but please no pets. Wear practical footwear and bring a sun hat as you will be outdoors. There will be a decent amount of walking and some stairs.
Addresses of homes will be made available after you register.
