McKinney Young Artist Competition
Guest artist, Christopher Guzman, performs a solo concert on Friday evening, followed by the competition on Saturday morning. Each student performs a 20-minute memorized program. After lunch, the students return for a master class conducted by the guest artist in which half of the students receive instruction for 30 minutes in front of their peers, allowing them to listen to and learn from each other. The other half of the students perform in a second master class on Sunday afternoon. That class is followed by a final recital in which each student performs one piece from his/her competition program. All events are held at the Heard-Craig Performance Hall.
