Chekhov's immortal romance of longing and belonging gets refracted through the lens of two versions of the play in repertory: one that embodies the classical context of the early 20th Century and another that brings forth the dysfunctional optimism of glasnost in the 1980s.

"This will be a re-imagining in a couple of hours of the production at 111 second Avenue. There will be some minimal lighting, clothes and sound. Nonetheless the essential flavor and characteristics of the performances and the productions will be discernible.
