This tender tomboy and rough-and-tumble lady come together to melt hearts and shake souls with undeniable chemistry and a truly unexpected heralding of wisdom. Mouths of Babes' sound is equal parts celebration and blues, folk and soul, salve and antheman invitation to love this life, to sing your sob story and end it with a smile.
The new collaboration between Ty Greenstein and Ingrid Elizabeth draws much of its creative impetus from the Real Women Real Songs project, for which they each committed to writing a new song every week in 2014. At the end of this transformational year, they now have over one hundred new songs between them.
In her twelve years with popular folk-pop quartet Girlyman, Ty established herself as a prolific songwriter and gifted lyricist, a talented multi-instrumentalist, and a magnetic presence onstage. Meanwhile, over the course of seven years as
co-founder/singer/upright bass player in the sultry roots trio Coyote Grace, Ingrid commanded audiences with her larger-than-life sassiness and professional dancer's grace. Only fate could have orchestrated the union of Girlyman and Coyote Grace, who toured together for an entire year in 2011. Together they sold out 400-seat venues and rocked folk festival main stages nationwide, with a musical and personal chemistry that fans could only describe as electric.
Now Ty and Ingrid have come back together as a sharp-dressed duo, combining their roots, Americana, folk, and gospel backgrounds with an ear for infectious pop hooks and soulful harmonies. The new material from Mouths of Babes finds Ty's heartfelt songs being lifted up by Ingrid's playful irreverence, while Ingrid's songs dig for a taproot of truth via Ty's poetry. Their debut EP Faith & Fumes, produced by Michael Connolly at Empty Sea Studios, was released in December 2014.
