Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Ladies

Sophisticated Ladies takes you on a musical journey through "The Duke's" most iconic hits in this revue style musical, sighting the evolution of his sound and style through exhilarating Broadway style arrangements. Some of those classics include: "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)", "Take the "A" Train", "Hit Me with a Hot Note and Watch Me Bounce", "Sophisticated Lady", and so many more. The original production, starring tap dance legend Gregory Hines, was a critical success, noting Frank Rich from the New York Times "the new musical revueis an Ellington celebration that just won't quit until it has won over the audience with dynamic showmanshipit rises so high on affection, skill and of course, stunning music. What's more, this is the only Broadway revue of recent vintage that operates on a truly grand scale."
