The Merchant of Venice: As Shakespeare Heard It
What was it like to see one of Shakespeare's plays for the first time? Imagine being in the Globe for opening night of a play that would end up studied, debated, loved, and performed for centuries.
One thing we do know for sure, though, is that Shakespeare's plays sounded different in his time. Thanks to the modern Original Pronunciation initiative, we can finally hear what they would have sounded like to their original audiences--hear the way they would have sounded to Shakespeare himself as he wrote them.
The Baltimore Shakespeare Factory (BSF) presents the world's first modern Original Pronunciation (OP) production of Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice.
