Árstíðir & The Anatomy of Frank: Live in Winston-Salem
When Icelandic chamberpop group Árstíðir sang an ancient Icelandic hymn inside the cavernous hall of a German train station, they never anticipated the aftermath. Millions of people worldwide were mesmerized by the moment, which was captured on camera and subsequently plastered across every social media newsfeed. The quartet have sold out cathedrals in Europe, played with symphonies across Siberia, performed at a music festival 500 miles from the North Pole, and enchanted people worldwide with their unique take on Iceland's haunting musical tonality.
They are joined by US-based The Anatomy of Frank, who hail from Charlottesville, VA and who have also done their fair share of globetrotting. The band first befriended Árstíðir in 2012, performing together in a club in Reykjavik, Iceland to a full house. Since then, they have toured Europe and North America with unfaltering zeal, capturing listener after listener with intense, heartbreaking music that climbs from soft nuances to earth-shattering climaxes. Recently noticed by NPR for an impromptu video recorded in a chemistry lab, the band is touring the US with Árstíðir in July.
This is a free concert, but a $20 donation is suggested for the bands. Snacks and wine will be provided. Bring any beverage or food you'd like to share. Limited to 60 tickets.
