Mini Boot Camp: Backwards Blocking 101 with OMG WTF
Sunday March 29, 2015 (9:30am-12 noon): Our second Mini Bootcamp, Backwards Blocking 101, will be taught by OMG WTF. Blocking backwards has become a critical component of modern flat track roller derby, and no one does it better than OMG WTF. In this class, you will learn how to block backwards alone and in a wall, and when to incorporate backwards blocking into your defensive strategy.
Gotham Girls Roller Derby is pleased to present our Mini Boot Camps! These 2-hour, specialized classes are presented by Gotham's world-class coaches, including members of the five-time reigning WFTDA champions, the GGRD All-Stars.
Each specialized class will focus on a particular topic, designed and coached by a single Gotham coach, so you can learn skills directly from the best. Want to learn how to slice through packs? Bonnie Thunders can show you. Learn how to jump the apex with Vicious Van Gogo! Want to get better at blocking backwards? OMG WTF can teach you that! Violet Knockout will show you how to drive jammers out of bounds! These classes will give you the focused instruction that you need to bring your skills to the next level.
Each Mini Boot Camp costs $35 and will run on a Sunday morning from 10am to 12 noon (please arrive at 9:30am for registration).
ELIGIBILITY
GGRD Boot Camps are designed for skaters who already know how to play roller derby. They are open ONLY to female skaters who have passed their WFTDA Skills Tests and have been placed on a team in an existing league. If you are new to derby, are Fresh Meat, or are an unaffiliated skater, we offer Basic Training classes for beginning skaters. Please see www.gothamgirlsrollerderby.com for more info.
All skaters must provide proof of WFTDA or USARS insurance.
