INTERPRETING IRELAND'S REBELLIONS WITH DR. CONOR MULVAGH
One of Ireland's leading young historians travels all the way from Dublin to give an exciting talk about the real history behind Guns of Ireland.
Dr Conor Mulvagh is Lecturer in Modern Irish History at University College Dublin and a member of the University's Centre for War Studies. He is presently engaged with national commemorations for the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising.
Dr Mulvagh will discuss the reality of revolution and revolt that eventually led to Irish independence with an emphasis on the two rebellions featured in Guns of Ireland: The 1798 Wexford Rebellion and the 1916 Easter Rising.
You'll learn about some of the most colorful characters in the world's history ranging from Father John Murphy, Wolfe Tone, Padraig Pearse, James Connolly, Tom Clarke, and Constance Markievicz.
Dr Mulvagh will also discuss the real story behind the tragic wedding of Joseph Plunkett and Grace Gifford in Kilmainham jail just hours before the groom was executed.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A session.
