Saint Peter Choral Society - Northern Voice Festival
In September 1979, Gerry Hyers put a notice in the Saint Peter Herald asking how many people would like to sing Handel's Messiah, and over eighty people responded. Thus the Saint Peter Community Choir was formed. Now in its thirty-fourth season, the Choir, now officially the Saint Peter Choral Society, continues to bring performances of a wide variety of great choral music to this area.

The Saint Peter Choral Society will present a concert entitled "IN MEMORIAM DIANE LOOMER" to shine a light upon the life and legacy of Diane Loomer. Originally from Minnesota and a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, Ms. Loomer moved to Canada where she made a brilliant career as conductor, composer and music publisher before her untimely death in 2012. The audience will experience a variety of her sacred and secular music, some of which has never been performed live in our area. Other pieces have been included from her memorial program in Vancouver in January 2013, as well as pieces chosen as a memorial to her life and career.
Program: Stanford: Te Deum Laudamus (in B Flat) Vaughan Williams: To the Unknown Region Brahms: How Lovely Is thy Dwelling-Place Cohen: Hallelujah Loomer: Soon Ah Will Be Done MacGillivray: Song for the Mira MacGillivray arr. Loomer: Away From the Roll of the Sea Lang: The Kontakian Dubinsky: We Rise Again
