Blood Wedding
North East School of the Arts proudly presents the Federico Garcia Lorca classic tragedy, BLOOD WEDDING (Bodas de sangre), as translated by Ted Hughes. CHLOE TREAT, NESA '10 alumnus and a
recent graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, returns as guest director of BLOOD WEDDING.

The story of a bride who flees her wedding to run away with the son of a rival family, BLOOD WEDDING explores the conflict between desire and repression in a world bound by tradition. Rich in poetry, music and dance, Lorca utilizes bold theatricality to tell a mythic tragedy and investigate the cost of convention. Eventually, BLOOD WEDDING serves as a glimpse of the consequences when ritual goes wrong. Inspired by a newspaper fragment recounting a family vendetta in rural Spain, BLOOD WEDDING is not only Lorca's most prolific play but also a vital contribution to the twentieth century's theatrical
canon.

CHLOE TREAT is a New York based director and choreographer. An alumnus of North East School of the Arts, she has worked on regional, Off-Broadway and Broadway bound productions in New York and the surrounding areas. Having graduated from Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama, she most recently worked on highly praised productions of Kansas City Choir Boy at the Prototype Festival as well as the national tour of Theatreworks USA's The Lightning Thief. She is thrilled to return to her alma
mater to direct this production of Lorca's BLOOD WEDDING.
BLOOD WEDDING will also feature an original score, created especially for this production by New York based composer DANIEL RIDER, and played live by a group of NESA's instrumental musicians.

Performance dates are February 26 - 28 at 7:30pm and March 1 at 2:30pm. All performances are at the Robert E. Lee High School Theater.
