BURLESQUE 1: Introduction to Burlesque (APRIL 2015)
Welcome to burlesque! This 3-week series is an inviting introduction to the world of burlesque and is geared toward all levels. You'll learn classic burlesque moves, a bit about burlesque history and its legendary women, and even create your own stage name! This course provides a modern context for burlesque and is the foundation for all other classes we offer. No dance experience necessary. No prerequisite. Register in advance and save!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Elektra Cute made her entree into the Twin Cities Burlesque scene in 2010 and quickly ascended from cabaret novice to a respected member of both the local and national arena. Known for her sleek costuming, daring dance style, and intoxicating stage presence, she's certainly earned her reputation as the Most Shocking Woman in Burlesque! Elektra is also recognized as an innovative and creative producer, finding new ways for the art of burlesque to thrive in Minneapolis and St. Paul. In 2011 she co-founded Black Hearts Burlesque, a burlesque, drag, and queer cabaret with a focus on community outreach and education. Ms. Cute currently serves as Assistant Director of the Playful Peacock Showgirl Academy, where she teaches the art of burlesque to inquiring minds and bodies, and is co-producer of the Minneapolis Burlesque Festival.
