PART 1: Belly Dance Bra and Belt Design / Construction
Saturday, March 28 11am - 6pm
Seminar / History:
Lana will describe her approaches to designing Belly Dance costumes:
- She will explain how different styles of bra and belt sets depend on cultural origin (e.g. Egyptian vs Turkish).
- She will demonstrate nuanced differences between modern Belly Dance costumes.
- She will demonstrate some of LANA Couture Belly Dance costume designs with a variety of accessories and embellishments including bracelets, arm bands, leg/ankle bands, foot covers, necklaces, earrings, and head pieces.
Design and Sewing Techniques Instruction:
- Choose a design to complimentary to your particular body type.
- Learn how to do simple sketch of your design ideas.
Hands-On Construction: The Bra
- Choose the right bra to use as a base.
- Cover the bra with fabric.
- Place a design on the bra.
- Accent the bra with beads, appliqués, rhinestones, fringe, chains, etc.
- Design and decorate the straps and back of the bra.
Hands-On Construction: The Belt
- Review classic and modern belt designs with demonstrations.
- Work on your projects, and get personalized attention from Lana.

PART 2: Belly Dance Skirt and Embellishments Design / Construction
Saturday, April 25 11am - 6pm
Seminar / History (Recap):
Lana will describe her approaches to designing Belly Dance costumes:
- She will explain how different styles of bra and belt sets depend on cultural origin (e.g. Egyptian vs Turkish).
- She will demonstrate nuanced differences between modern Belly Dance costumes.
- She will demonstrate some of LANA Couture Belly Dance costume designs with a variety of accessories and embellishments including bracelets, arm bands, leg/ankle bands, foot covers, necklaces, earrings, and head pieces.
Design and Sewing Techniques Instruction:
- Learn different designs to compliment a variety of body types: Create the illusion of longer legs, slim down areas of the body, accentuate hips and curves, etc.
Hands-On Construction: The Skirt
Choose and create one of these fabulous skirts:
- 1.5-Circle Traditional Skirt
- Lana's Famous 3-Panel Skirt
- 4- and 5-Panel Mermaid Skirt
Embellish Your Skirt:
- "Peek-A-Boo" Side Skirt Openings
- Different Hem Styles
Hands-On Construction: Embellishments and Accessories
- Lana will demonstrate some of her unique ideas for accessory design.
- Work on your projects, and get personalized attention from Lana.
