THE COMPANY AND DEL ORO THEATRE ARTS PRESENT THE TIMELESS MUSICAL WEST SIDE STORY

A LEONARD BERNSTIEN AND STEPHEN SONDHEIM MUSICAL

The Company and Del Oro High School Theatre Arts begins 2015 with their production of West Side Story. The production is a showcase of Elly nominated and awarded performers, designers, technicians and musical direction and features the Placer County Youth Orchestra (PCYO). The cast and crew include nearly 50 Del Oro students, a few adult cast members and is also supported by expert set and costume designers. The musical is produced by Jeffrey Johnson and professionally directed and musically directed by Shere "Mama Jones" Freedman. The combined talent and experience of The Company has been resulting in some of the highest quality community theatre in the region.

West Side Story is a timeless musical about star-crossed lovers from rival gangs with different ethnic backgrounds. Still relevant today, this heart-wrenching story describes the lover's struggle to coexist in a world marred by social problems, prejudice and violence. The production will run for a limited engagement of six performances from April 16 through April 25.
  • Opening night is Thursday, April 16.

  • The Friday, April 17 performance will be in honor of Law Enforcement.

  • Thursday, April 23 is Senior Night with added usher assistants and admission reduced to $10 ($11.34 w/service fee). HALF-PRICE WEEKNIGHT PROMO!

About The Company: The Company is a theatrical troupe comprised of students in the Del Oro High School Theatre Arts program and includes parents, faculty and theatre professionals. Its members are devoted to producing high quality theatre and bringing real life experience to high school students. The Company has taken on several challenging productions including its critically acclaimed 2014 production of Les Miserables.

About PCYO: The Placer County Youth Orchestra (PCYO) is a community youth orchestra serving the Rocklin, Roseville, Granite Bay, Lincoln, Loomis, Newcastle, and Auburn areas. PCYO focuses on providing a comprehensive musical education for students while fostering a sense of musicianship and duty to their community. Its goal is to work closely with schools, private teachers, and organizations throughout Placer County to make orchestral music available to everyone.
