VDAY Humboldt presents The Vagina Monologues
VDAY Humboldt presents The Vagina Monologues
The award-winning play by Eve Ensler will be directed by Carly Sharman. This play is based on V-Day Founder and playwright Eve Ensler's interviews with more than 200 hundred women. With humor and grace the piece celebrates women's sexuality and strength. Through this play and the liberation of this one word, countless women throughout the world have taken control of their bodies and their lives. The Vagina Monologues has given voice to experiences and feelings not previously exposed in public. Monologues like "Because he liked to look at it," and "My Vagina is a Village," among others, have touched the lives of many women as they embrace their sexuality - becoming an international feminist phenomenon since 1998.
The event will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Feb. 20, 21 and 22. Doors open at 7:30pm. Show Begins at 8pm. Ticket prices at the door are $10 for the general public and $8 for seniors and students. All presale tickets are $8 for general public, seniors and students. V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery.
North Star Quest Camp (NSQC) is VDay Humboldt 2015 benefactor. NSQC a non-profit operating as a "DreamMaker Program" of the The Ink People Center for the Arts. NSQC was founded by Karen Moulton in the summer of 1996. Karen noticed that her adolescent girls were suffering emotional and spiritual pain mainly due to the commercial, materialistic American culture. She organized a camp for adolescent girls that would offer them strengths and help them tap into their own spirits as sources of strength.
