For the BENEFIT of Miss JENNIE GOURLAY
BROADWAY VETERAN STARS IN AN ORIGINAL SOLO SHOW

Hipkins won the 2011 Fruitie Award for
BEST PLAYWRIGHT OF A SOLO SHOW
at the Fresh Fruit Festival.

The show was awarded BEST EDUCATIONAL PIECE
at the 2012 United Solo Theatre Festival.

President Lincoln shot!  Actress Jennie Gourlay's shot at stardom cancelled!  So what became of Jennie?  And why is Billy Hipkins taking her story so personally?  Strong identification with a fellow theatre also-ran, or is his current showbiz life a karmic payback?  Was he there at Ford's Theatre that night?  Did he shoot Lincoln?  And why does he love hoop skirts so much?

As we approach the 150th Anniversary of the Lincoln Assassination (and the subsequent cancellation of Jennie Gourlay's Benefit performance), let him tell you in his one-man adventure through her story, his story, and history.

After opening the 2012 Emerging Artists Theater's "One Man Talking" New Works Series and closing the 2011 Fresh Fruit Festival- where he won the 2011 Fruitie Award for Best Playwright of a Solo Show, Hipkins has gone on to perform in the 3rd annual United Solo Theatre Festival- where the show was awarded Best Educational Piece. He continues to charm and move audiences with his personal story as told through history. "Billy tells the story of Jennie Gourlay with such passion and enthusiasm that you can't help but find yourself rooting for an actress from another time period," says Tony nominee Rory O'Malley, who currently appears in The Book of Mormon on Broadway. "He weaves in stories from his own life, making it anything but a dull history lesson. Billy is the funniest, sassiest- and most honest- teacher you'll ever have."
