The 2015 Santa Barbara Floor to Air Festival takes flight on Sunday, March 15 thru Saturday, March 21, celebrating the groundbreaking genre of contemporary aerial dance. The first festival in California to highlight the organic relationship between floor and air movement, SBFAF unites professionals, students, spectators, and supporters for one week of exclusive workshops, intimate soirees, and a culmination performance and gala at the historic Lobero Theatre. Featuring eight international artists from Lisbon, Bogota, Montreal, New York, Chicago, Boulder, and Santa Barbara, students of all levels and experiences (including a Petites Artistes workshop for students ages 8-14) will garner invaluable training from a distinguished selection of pioneers and innovators. In addition, workshop participants will gain exclusive access to intimate gatherings throughout the week, cultivating knowledge and relationships in a festive and supportive environment. New to SBFAF this year is The Paloma Project, an international artist residency and collaborative program under the direction of Ninette Paloma. Belline, the evening-length production developing at the festival, will debut at the Lobero Theatre and continue its tour in 2015. Take the week off, dance the winter blues away, and join us on the luscious American Riviera for this groundbreaking event!
