PDX Oyster Week: Sherry, Cocktails, and Oysters = A Match Made In Heaven
Ethan Powell and Tobias Hogan are Portland's oyster experts - they're who the top restaurants in Portland buy their oysters from and nobody in this city knows more about these briny bivalves than these two guys. They want to teach you how to think outside of the champagne bottle and drink some other spirits with oysters! The Parish has a robust bar program and you'll learn what spirits and cocktails taste great with oysters and you'll walk away with knowing how to make these cocktails at home. They'll be plenty of oysters to eat and drinks to sample!
About EaT: An Oyster Bar + The Parish
Tobias Hogan and Ethan Powell first met while cooking at Portland's Everett Street Bistro. In 2008, they opened EaT: An Oyster Bar,a neighborhood restaurant and bar with a NewOrleans-inspired menu. With catfish po'boys, jambalaya and a wide assortment of farm-direct raw oysters, the partners were excited to bring their innovative southern fare to the emerging N. Williams St. neighborhood. Then in 2012, Tobias and Ethan opened The Parish in the Pearl District. The Parish, presenting traditional Cajun food alongside the more urban and European-inspiredCreole cuisine.Named after the counties, or "parishes",found in New Orleans, The Parish is part of a resurgence of independent chef-owned restaurants dotting the new landscape ofPortland's Pearl District neighborhood. As chefs committed to supporting local producers, Ethan and Tobias support farmers, winemakers, and regional oyster farmers,as well as culinary tourists seeking farm-to-table dining within Portland's downtown hub.
